The commitment of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo to delivering world-class healthcare regardless of circumstance was on full display as the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, received commendation from the Osun State Government following the hospital's prompt and professional management of Alhaji Ajibola Asimiyu, Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government Area, after sustaining gunshot wounds from yet-to-be-identified assailants.
The commendation came during a solidarity visit to the hospital by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye and Yeye Dupe Adeleke, who visited on behalf of the Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke.
The Chief of Staff personally commended Dr. Afolabi for the quality of medical attention extended to the party chairman, describing the hospital's response as swift, thorough, and befitting of the institution's standing as a Teaching Hospital. He conveyed the Governor's satisfaction with the level of care being rendered to Alhaji Asimiyu.
Yeye Dupe Adeleke also expressed deep appreciation to the doctors and nurses of UTH for their dedication and professionalism in stabilising and treating the patient. She described their efforts as a reflection of the compassion that should define healthcare delivery in Osun State.
In an act of benevolence, the Chief of Staff and Yeye Dupe moved through the ward, stopping at the bedside of every patient. They thereafter graciously settled the outstanding medical bills of patients in the ward as a humanitarian act that drew emotional responses from patients and their families.
The government officials assured that perpetrators of the shooting would face the full weight of the law.
Responding to the visit, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi expressed profound gratitude to the Osun State Government for their show of solidarity, noting that such gestures serve as strong motivation for the hospital's medical personnel. He reaffirmed UTH's commitment to providing prompt, quality, and compassionate healthcare to the people of Osun State and its environs.
