The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has called on all Security Agencies in the country to look into the security situation in the State which has become worrisome to his administration.
Senator Adeleke made the call during a visit to gunshot victims undergoing treatment at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
He said the rate at which people are being attacked for alleged political reasons recently in the State is alarming and needs urgent attention by all security bodies in the country.
The Governor added that he has repeatedly called for calm among his party faithfuls to ensure that the situation does not escalate beyond measure.
"These attacks has to be stopped.
He specifically thanked the Chief Medical Director and the medical team in the hospital for the prompt attention given to save the lives of the victims.
While briefing the governor on the present state of health of the victims, the Chief Medical Director, UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi expressed his sadness on the incessant attacks on people recently in the State which he said poses a security threat not only to the citizens but also to healthcare professionals who takes care of the victims.
Dr. Afolabi therefore urged the State Government to look into the issue and ensure that perpetrators of these dastardly acts are fished out and prosecuted accordingly.
He revealed that the Chairman of Accord party in Osogbo Local Government, Alhaji Ajibola Asimiyu who was attacked and shot recently has been treated and is recuperating well.
Also, the man who was shot today at Owode, Ede is responding to treatment.
It would be recalled that Alhaji Asimiyu was attacked and shot in the stomach recently before being rushed to the hospital for proper treatment.
Also present with the CMD to welcome the Governor were, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Dr. Olufemi Ala, the Director of Administration, Dr. Oladepo Owolade, the Director of Nursing Services, Mrs Beatrice Anihuntodun, Deputy CMAC Clinicals, Dr. Emmanuel Folami and a host of staff and patient relatives.
