It was all pomp and pageantry at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo recently as the hospital community celebrated the victory and re-election of the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke into office for another four years.
Members of staff in their large numbers came out to dance and give thanks to God for the victory secured at the recently concluded election by the incumbent Governor of the State.
While addressing the audience at the program, the Board Chairman, of the hospital, Rt. Hon. Niyi Owolade appreciated all members of staff of the hospital for their commitment and dedication to duty which was evident in the passion devoted to taking care of the gunshot victims brought to the hospital recently adding that the Governor is very happy with the workforce of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo for that gesture.
Hon. Owolade described the Governor as a child of destiny thereby urging all members of staff to continue to support his administration so as to take the hospital as well as Osun State to greater heights.
He implored all to show love to one another and patiently settle issues or cases of disagreement while looking at such issues objectively for the peace and progress of the hospital.
In his welcome speech, the Chief Medical Director, UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi appreciated the Governor for his continuous and timely intervention into the needs of the hospital which he said has strengthened the capacity of the hospital to attend to challenging cases and improve the health care delivery to the people of the State.
He added that the intervention has given the hospital a new identity making the hospital more friendly, accessible and affordable to the patients.
Dr. Afolabi urged all members of staff to set aside their political differences and work together for the progress of the hospital stressing that politics should not divide the hospital rather it should bind us together as a family. He appealed to all workers to embrace dialogue and negotiation in solving issues rather than resorting to Industrial strike which ought to be a last resort.
The CMD highlighted some of the interventions of Governor Adeleke in the hospital which has impacted on the lives and families of patients and staff. He revealed that the hospital looks forward to more interventions in the second term in order to make the hospital stronger in Medical Intervention, Research and Training.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of Accord party, Pastor Victor Akande appreciated the Management and staff of the hospital for their support during the election and urged all to continue to support the Governor for the next four years of his administration.
The Chairman, Planning Committee, Mr Banji Ajiteru disclosed that the victory of the Governor is an opportunity to emphasize the confidence reposed on the Governor adding that the hospital look forward to continued collaboration between the hospital and the Government.
Mr Ajiteru also appreciated the members of staff for their presence and for trooping out to celebrate the victory of the Governor. He also commended the members of the Planning Committee for their cooperation towards the success of the program.
Special prayers were also offered by Christian and Muslim clerics for the success of the present administration for the second term in office.
Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives of different Associations and Unions within the hospital.
Other dignitaries at the program were some members of the Board of the hospital, Medical Elder and politician, Dr. Oladimeji, members of the Management team of the hospital, Heads of departments, friends of the hospital and some politicians.
