Blog Image

Dr. Babatunde Adeola Afolabi, Chief Medical Director of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, made an unannounced visit to Akogun Comprehensive Health Centre to assess service delivery. Key findings included:
  • Staff Attire: Community Health Extension Workers and security personnel weren't wearing uniforms, with one staff member seen carrying a baby on her back.
  • Environmental Conditions: The center was overcrowded, poorly ventilated, and inadequately lit.
  • Record-Keeping: Pharmacy records and patient documentation were subpar.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Hospital equipment, including the fridge, was well-maintained.

Dr. Afolabi emphasized the need for improved record-keeping and adherence to public service rules, warning that indiscipline and misconduct would be addressed. He promised to conduct regular visits to ensure improvements.
This visit highlights the importance of effective healthcare management and the need for ongoing quality improvement initiatives. By addressing these issues, healthcare facilities can provide better patient care and outcomes.
