Governor Adeleke approves long-awaited welfare upgrade for '2012/13 Group' staff, fulfilling decade-old promise and rekindling hope among healthcare workers.
Osogbo, Osun State – In a remarkable demonstration of responsive leadership, His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke of Osun State has approved the long-awaited improved conditions of service for over 200 staff members of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, falling under the "2012/13 Group."
These staff members had faced stagnation and career development limitations for over a decade due to bureaucratic bottlenecks. The welcome news was conveyed by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Dr Babatunde Afolabi, to the visibly elated staff.
Dr Afolabi expressed deep appreciation to Governor Adeleke for his unwavering support and described him as a workers-friendly leader who consistently prioritises the welfare of public servants. He further encouraged the affected staff to view this elevation as a renewed call to duty, urging them to reciprocate the gesture with greater dedication, excellence, and service delivery.
The CMD also extended gratitude to key stakeholders who contributed to this milestone since his appointment as the substantive CMD on 31st October, 2024. Among those recognised were Dr Adedeji Adeleke; the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi; Yeye Dupe Sani-Adeleke; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Hon. Kassim Akinleye.
Others acknowledged include the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; the Head of Service, Elder Samuel Aina; the Honourable Commissioner for Health; the Special Adviser on Public Health; Barr. Hon. Niyi Owolade (Chairman, UNIOSUN Board) and board members; management and staff of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital; and union leaders.
In his words, Dr Afolabi said:
