UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, was honoured to welcome the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, during a solidarity visit held yesterday evening.
The Governor’s visit was primarily to check on the well-being of Hon. Funso Babarinde and other patients currently receiving treatment at the facility. His presence underscored a deep commitment to healthcare development and compassionate leadership.
During the visit, Governor Adeleke made several impactful promises aimed at strengthening the hospital’s infrastructure and service delivery:
- Recruitment of additional staff
- Renovation of the 200-bedded ward
- Refurbishment of doctors’ call duty rooms
- Procurement of modern medical equipment
He further directed the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr Babatunde Adeola Afolabi, to submit a comprehensive list of required equipment by 12 noon on Monday, 8 September 2025.
In his address, Dr Afolabi expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Governor’s continued support since his appointment as CMD. He highlighted the dedication of hospital staff and the positive influence of recent contributions, including the donation of a Patient Shed by the 2012/2013 alumni set—a gesture that visibly impressed the Governor.
Governor Adeleke, warmly received by a crowd of well-wishers, reaffirmed his confidence in Dr Afolabi’s leadership, describing his appointment as a wise decision. He pledged unwavering support for the hospital’s growth and development.
The Governor was received by Dr Afolabi, members of the hospital’s Management Team, on-duty staff, and relatives of patients. In a generous display of goodwill, a sum of ₦1 million was distributed among the crowd in denominations of ₦5,000 and ₦3,000.
This visit marks a renewed chapter in the hospital’s journey towards excellence, with the Governor’s promises poised to catalyse transformative change in Osun State’s healthcare landscape.
